By and large, corporations make the bulk of their money by making you think you need things that you don’t.
I could name so many examples, but one of them is laundry detergent. Maybe a squirt of Dr. Bronner’s soap here and there will be used, but generally, we only use water to wash our clothes. The water alone gets out stains and makes our clothes clean and smelling fresh. We don’t pay a dime. And the water, at least where I live, is already loaded with bleach.
Washing the dishes? We use our hands and cold water. Sometimes they need to sit in hot water for a while and only on rare occasions we might use a squirt of Dr. Bronner’s soap, but for the most part, we don’t need soap.
Deodorant? Not a problem. Freshly squeezed lemons keep me much more protected than any commercial product.
Mopping the floor? Just really hot water works. Maybe some vinegar too. If I need to do a heavy job? Lemon scented ammonia will do it.
Dusting? We use a dust buster.
Cleaning the cutting board? We use lemon and coconut oil and pine oil to disinfect if needed….
By simplifying our life, we may not be inhaling or getting chemicals on our skin as much. We are saving money and our household jobs get done more swiftly and efficiently.
They tell you that you need certain things to be beautiful, but you’re already beautiful so why mess with perfection?
I could give many more examples, but you get the idea. Life does not need to be so complicated and expensive.
